ACORN 13 - 26th March 2021

You will be aware that Mrs Grimble will be retiring at the end of this term.  Mrs Grimble has been a teacher for all of her working life, joining us here in September 2005 as a class teacher.  After taking on the role of Assistant Head, she then became our Head of School in October 2012.  During these years she has seen a huge number of children pass through our school, move onto their secondary education and into their adult lives. We say a huge thank you to her for all she has done for the staff and children within school.  We wish her all the very best as she moves to be close to the sea to begin what we hope will be a very happy and long retirement.

We are delighted to tell you that Mrs Sibley and her Husband welcomed their baby son Oscar into the world last week.  We send them all our very best wishes.

The last day of this term is Wednesday 31st March 2021. We wish you all a very happy and safe Easter holiday.

Term 5 starts on Monday 19th April 2021 and we look forward to seeing all children in school on this day.

Book bags – As we are now members of the Infinity Academies Trust and our name has changed to Spalding Primary Academy, we have a stock of book bags which are printed with our previous name of Spalding Primary School.  These are free of charge if you would like to have one for your child.  Please call into the school office to pick one up.  There are limited numbers – when they are gone, they are gone!!

School shoes

We are aware that many children have grown out of their school shoes during the lockdown period.  We are also very aware that it is only a couple of weeks until the Easter holiday so if your child needs new shoes, but you wanted to wait until the holiday to purchase new ones, we are happy for your child to come to school in non-uniform shoes, as long as they are sensible shoes and hold your child’s foot safely. Please avoid ‘party’ style shoes. Thank you.

Can we please remind you that pets are not allowed on any part of the school premises, including the car park area.  Thank you.

Covid-19 test results - If your child needs to have a Covid-19 test, and you receive the results outside of normal school hours or at a weekend, please contact us by email on covidupdatesps@spalding-pri.lincs.sch.uk   This email address is monitored out of normal hours and at weekends, so we would be able to put any special arrangements in place and give you information as early as possible if a positive test result was to be received.

Is your child eligible for Pupil Premium Funding? This funding is available for children whose parents are in receipt of certain benefits.  It entitles your child to free meals during KS2, free milk, 50% discount on school trips (including residential trips), discounted music tuition, additional teaching support, and help with purchasing uniform and equipment.  If you think your child might be eligible, or if you would like further information, please call into the school office in confidence.

School Transport  If your child is starting primary school or transferring to secondary school in September 2021 they may be eligible for school transport.  If you think your child is eligible please apply for transport as soon as you have your offer of a school place.  Applications can be made online at the website below or a telephone application can be made by contacting the Customer Service Centre on 01522 782020.
