ACORN 7 - 11th December 2020

COVID test results received during a weekend

Can we please remind that if you receive a COVID test result during a weekend, please contact us on covidupdatesps@spalding-pri.lincs.sch.uk

Please do not use this email address during the week – it is for weekends only.

Please refer to the letter sent to you on 13th November which gives full information about this.

Parking Issues

Can we please remind you to park carefully and safely when bringing and collecting your child. PLEASE DO NOT block the driveways of our neighbours – they need to be able to gain access to their properties at all times.  Just take a few minutes to think about how annoyed and cross you would be if someone stopped you from gaining access to your own property!  We are advising anyone who has an issue with bad and dangerous parking to make a note of the registration number and report the matter to the Police. Please treat our neighbours, pedestrians and other road users with respect.

Infinity Academies Trust - Following the consultation period, we are pleased to confirm that Pinchbeck East C E Primary School and Spalding Primary School will become Academy schools on 1st February 2021 and will join Infinity Academies Trust as part of the Trust’s family of schools.

This is an exciting development for our schools.  As part of a supportive family of schools, we can share expertise and best practice that will further enhance the education provision for all our pupils.

Over the last few weeks, our children have been busy communicating with children from other schools within the Infinity Academies Trust.  Children from the other schools within the Academies Trust have reached out to our children in an attempt to welcome our school into their trust and to give our children an insight as to what goes on in their schools.  We hope our children have enjoyed communicating with them.

Can we please remind you that unfortunately, we have to ask you NOT to bring Christmas cards into school this year for children and staff.

The children have been busy making their hoops which are now hanging in the school hall and looking very festive.  The following pictures give you an idea of how the hoops look.  These two hoops have been made by Miss Taylor’s and Mr Jordan’s classes.

Starting School in September 2021 - If you have a child who was born between 1st September 2016 and 31st August 2017, they will be due to start school in September 2021.  You need to apply for a place in a school for them—please do not assume that because they have a brother or sister in our school, or your child goes to Wygate Foundation Nursery School that you will automatically get a place in our school—this is not the case.  Unfortunately, due to the current situation, we are unable to hold our usual Reception Open Day but if you take a look on our school website you will be able to see a Virtual Tour of our EYFS area and our school. Information regarding applying for a place is available on our website or please call into our school office to pick up a leaflet.  If you are applying for a place and have a brother or sister who currently comes to our school, please make sure you put this information in the relevant place on the application form.  This could make the difference between you obtaining a place in this school or not.  The application process opened on 16th November 2020 and closes on 15th January 2021.

School Photographs

Due to the current COVID situation, we have had to postpone our school photographs this year.  On Monday 21st June our photographers will be in school to take individual photographs – unfortunately we will not be able to take sibling photographs this year as this means a lot of movement of children around the school and we need to make sure that children stay in their year group bubbles. We apologise for any disappointment this may cause but we are sure you will understand that this is beyond our control.  Sadly, we will not be able to hold our usual family evening portrait session either.  On Tuesday 22nd June, our photographers will be taking whole class photographs and also our Year 6 leavers photograph.  Please note that your child should come to school in their uniform on these two days, even if it is their usual PE day.

Lunch Boxes - Many children (especially the younger ones) struggle to open packets in their lunch boxes.  In the current COVID situation, we want to avoid our mid-day meal supervisors having to touch your child’s food items, so we would ask that you open any packets when you pack your child’s lunch box please.  Thank you.

Hot School Meals - We are delighted to be offering hot school meals again and the children are enjoying them – especially with the cold weather we have had recently! Don’t forget to keep checking your child’s account with The Farm Kitchen to make sure your ordering is up to date.  The deadline is a Tuesday at 3.00pm for meals required the following week.  If your child doesn’t have a hot meal why not give them a try?  They are delicious.

Don’t forget to order meals for January – the menus for the first few weeks in January are already available.

Is your child eligible for Pupil Premium Funding? This funding is available for children whose parents are in receipt of certain benefits.  It entitles your child to free meals during KS2, free milk, 50% discount on school trips (including residential trips), discounted music tuition, additional teaching support, and help with purchasing uniform and equipment.  If you think your child might be eligible, or if you would like further information, please call into the school office in confidence.
