Spalding Primary School
Learning Together, Succeeding Together
School remains open during the current lock-down for the children of critical workers. If your child is currently attending school, please make sure that they only come to school on days when parents/carers are working. If you have a day off in the week or a holiday day, your child should remain at home with you please.
Wellbeing
We know all of you are trying really hard with remote learning, and that it isn’t always easy. We just want to reassure you that you are all doing a great job and that sometimes you need time away from the screen. Look out for ideas from your teacher on Seesaw for activities that you can complete without the need to use technology, e.g. one day you might go for walk, or play a board game, or do some drawing/colouring. Try not to worry if you don’t always have time every day to complete all of the work set by the teacher, just do what you can!
Check-ins
From next week, we will be starting to make regular contact with all children who are not in school. This will just be a conversation between your child and a familiar adult in school to check in with how they are getting on with remote learning.
Free School Meals
If your child is entitled to Pupil Premium Free School Meals, the government are operating the Edenred Voucher scheme again during this lock-down. You will have received an email which gives information about the vouchers. When downloading the vouchers, we would ask that you are patient as during the last lock-down we received reports that it took a long time for them to download.
You may have seen that M&S are being very generous and saying that if you choose their stores for your shopping, they will add a further £5 onto your voucher. The instructions are that you should exchange the eCode provided by Edenred for an M&S eGift card via the link provided with the eCode. M&S will then add a further £5 to the same £15 eGift card within a few hours of receipt, making this a £20 M&S e-voucher to spend on food in store. When shopping in store, simply hand over the voucher at payment and the value will scan as £20.
Is your child eligible for Pupil Premium Funding? This funding is available for children whose parents are in receipt of certain benefits. It entitles your child to free meals during KS2, free milk, 50% discount on school trips (including residential trips), discounted music tuition, additional teaching support, and help with purchasing uniform and equipment. If you think your child might be eligible, or if you would like further information, please call into the school office in confidence.
11+ Registration for Year 5 children
If your child is in year 5, you would have received an email from us on 11th January which contained information on how to register your child for the 11+ tests. The High and Grammar schools are conducting on-line registration only this year. The link for the registration form was contained within the letter from the High and Grammar Schools. If your child wishes to take the 11+ tests (which take place on Saturday 11th and 18th September 2021) you need to complete and submit the registration form NO LATER THAN FRIDAY 12TH FEBRUARY 2021. If your child does not wish to take tests, you do not need to do anything. If you require a further copy of the letter please contact us.
